There has been much publicity lately in the transportation industry regarding shop-a-doc medical exam cards and fraudulent cards. Most reputable companies will want you to go to their own doc so they can verify you are medicaly qualified.

The employer is also required under federal regs to qualify each driver - including medical, drug and alcohol, road test (yes you will have to take another road test for the co. you work for) and driving / employment history.

If they are paying for it, why complain? Enjoy the road!

I can't say why they do it but every time I have changed companies I have had to do a new physical. I once had 3 valid medical cards. Maybe they figure since they are going to give you a pre employment drug test anyways they should just have you do the whole thing. It is normal tho so don't feel like they are picking on you.
