I was stopped by police on 14th April for driving unsupervised on a Provisional License without L Plates.
i then urgently booked my test and passed the test on 20th of April. I appeared in the police station on 21st (within 7 days of incident) where the police charged me with two counts; 1. driving unsupervised on PL without L Plates and 2. Driving without proper insurance (i was insured on prov. lic. but ofcourse being unsupervised and without L Plates meant it would have resulted in refused claims so police told me it was illegal). i havent heard anything back from the procurator fiscal yet as to what will happen with me. I was told by police that I will get a 3 or 6 point penalty and/or a fine. If I get this penalty (which is quite likely) will my new license (which I am yet to receive) be revoked? and will i be disqualified? How does this affect my employment prospects? How long do the points stay on the license and once this period is finished can I then call my license as a clean license or is it an unclean license forever? Please advise. i am quite worried about this whole episode.

I think you will get 3 points on your full license.Read below, what dsa website says

Penalty points gained before passing your driving test

Any penalty points you gain before passing your first driving test are taken into account. However, having six or more doesn’t mean your license will be revoked straight after you pass your test.

Gaining further points after passing your test, taking your total to six or more, will mean your licence will be revoked.

How did you just find out you had 6 points on your licence? You must have done something car related that broke the law to get 6 points in the first place. They don't just happen to appear. Why worry about the driving lessons, have you any idea how much your insurance will be as a newly qualified driver with that many points. It's extortionate for new drivers anyway but if you have 6 points expect the figure to be somewhere up in the stratosphere! I'd give up on the idea of driving for a few years if I was you.

If you get 6 points on your license within 2 years of passing your test, or in your case not even having done one, then your license will be revoked for good.

If you get 6 points on your license, you can say goodbye to it.

your attitude to driving is seriously in question, you took stupid risks and you deserve to lose your licence, you may have even damaged your employment prospects, next time, before you drive, think about the consequences, both now and in the future
