what is the tire height difference on 285/55r20 vs 305/50r20?

I know the 305 is going to be a lot wider but I'm worried height wise because right now I have all terrain BFGoodrich and I'm going to nitto street tire. Right now the all terrain fills up the gap real good. That's how I was to stay but just put 20x12 rims. Thank you

The height is a percentage of the width. Therefore, 285/55r20 means that the tyre is 285 mm wide, and the height is 55% of the width. The height of a tyre is measured from the road surface to the bead.

tire manufacturers differ slightly in how they measure .. the 285 would technically be 5mm higher, but in the real world the 305 will likely be alot bigger and closer to the fender, so if youre already tight ...
