Why do drivers do this?

Why do drivers speed up when you try to pass them on the road? & then when you do pass them, they put their brights on?

I was driving on a road where the speed limit was 45, but i usually go around 60. ((Yes, speeding. But, I know that road like the back of my hand.)) It was a little rainy, but nothing terrible. There was a car going around 30 miles per hour. I tried to pass him once, but he sped up when I tried to. The second time, I passed him going around 70. When I got in front of him, he turned his brights on. Then, he slowed back down.

I'm really confused, why would he do this? In fact, why would any driver do something like that? If you don't want to get passed up, go faster!

Men dont like to look stupid on the roads! he was obviously driving slow and you were driving too fast, so he was giving you the lights in the eyes to show you whose boss - you are though!

Oh don't get me started about bad driving. I only drive 4 miles to work and have to run into 1 idiot at least in the short time. Putting on the brights I think is just saying f-u in car language, why they do it I'll never know and they do it to me too. I was hit 5 times in 2 years and 3 of them at the same intersection. None my fault but people just do not drive well. If I was a instructor 50% of people would not get their D.L's.

He's an idiot. I notice the same thing too myself. I don't really like to speed, but I've found myself having to do the same thing to get around people who are that against driving the speed limit.

Probably because you're going 70mph when it's raining on a road that isn't a highway. That's a profoundly dangerous thing to do.

They feel intimidated to have a female pass them. Same thing happens to me at times.
