I've been driving for about 4 years now I just recently found out that I have register my dot physical online. My dot physical expired last month and didn't know, I'm going in to get it done. But I looked on the dmv looking at my status and it says everything is surrendered except my D. I never got anything in the mail. I did not submit to surrender my cdl. I had no knowledge of this. Am I going to have to start all over?!? Or do I just need to get the dot physical registered?

It has been common knowledge for a couple years now that all CDL holders must have the medical card on file as of February of this year. It's been pushed back twice at this point to get to the Feb deadline, not sure how anybody could not know about that up until it happened it's all that was talked about in the trucking industry. You need to get a physical ASAP and get the form over to DMV in person and get your license back. I hope your not driving right now because you do NOT have a CDL right now, if you got pulled over you'd be arrested. What ever company your working for is just as guilty for not reminding everybody of that at the beginning of the year.

New rules as of about a year ago... You MUST submit your DOT physical to your state's drivers licensing agency, and keep it current. If you fail to keep a current DOT physical on file, or you let it expire, your CDL driving privileges will be automatically suspended

There are two types related to this. If you carry interstate cargo then you need to go to the DMV give them a copy of your DOT card then you have the restriction taken off. Or if you run intra state then you just need your DOT card on you. If your card expires and you do nothing your endorsements become invalid after a year. More BS from Uncle Sam. The State of Washington website says if you haul logs to a sawmill or containers from a port you would need to have the DOT on file. By putting it on file means going to the DMV or in Wa. DOL standing in line get5ting a new license etc. BTW they have been doing this for more than a couple of years.

You need the physical to apply for reinstatement.
