I don't know much about there lease purchase. From experience looking to do that, all the contracts I looked at were not very favorable to the contractor.

There pay is low for a contractor ( owner op, as they sometimes refer), even considering the fuel savings for buying in there network, there paying for permits and base plates, and pulling there trailer. There company driver pay is better than most, but you will run fewer miles than most carriers. I can't tell you how many J.B drivers I met at truck stops who only run 1,700 - 1,900 miles a week. You should run 2,500 - 3k per week, considering the time you stay out.

As a company, they are very financially stable, and self insured. They restrict the trucks speed, no matter you are paying for the truck. This also make unsafe highway conditions when you have vehicles traveling slower than the posted speed limit. Many studies and millions of dollars spent to determine this. Any company who willingly creates unsafe environment on the highway is not a very good company.

Home time is 14 days out minimum with 2 days home for every 7 out, but they only allow 4 days home at a time.

I filled out an online app. at a drivers web site, and J.B recruiters call me about every 2 months.

I strongly advice you against signing on to any tractor lease purchase contract. The latest economy report had forcasted a downturn in the economy for 2008. This means less freight volume. Factor-in the instability of diesel price at the pump. Factor-in the heavy presence of hispanic drivers in the trucking industry.

Do you recall the Newhall, CA chain reaction accident on Oct 12, where trucks ran into each other inside a tunnel that was around a blind curve? The news reported about 8 or 9 trucks had been abandoned. The drivers walked away from the scene and abandoned their tractor, trailer, and cargo! What the news didn't mention is why these truckers fled the scene.

They're illegal aliens who had secured a CDL using fake social security cards and fake birth certificates. They were afraid the Highway Patrol would've collected their fingerprints and cross referenced it with INS databank of illegals who had been deported before. A number of these owner operators are illegals who had gotten their license under false pretence.

Consider the attempt by the Feds to introduce NAFTA, which allows Mexican-domiciled trucks to operate across the US. The supreme court had momentarily halted implementation of NAFTA, but it is only temporary while it goes through more committee meetings. I predict eventually, NAFTA will pass, and the Mexican trucks will have free reign across USA.

DO NOT SIGN ON TO ANY TRACTOR-LEASE PROGRAMS WITH JB, SWIFT, SCHNEIDER, ETC... There are too many variables at play thats making this a high-risk venture !! Check out these other links to do more research on JB Hunt

They stink, they pay by the mile, they are Anti-Union. You will be a subcontractor with no benefits or pension. You will pay for fuel and repairs. Forget it. I have another name for them. JB _ _ _ _ . Get a real job or subcontract on your own. Or become a Union Driver for the Post Office etc. Subcontract for the P.O.
