Id go with the v24 so you can run over people in smart cars.

Apples and asparagus!
A V8 is the # of cylinders, 2 rows of 4 in a V shape around 1 crank shaft.
A V24 or 24V is the total # of valves, usually 4 but sometimes 3 per cylinder.
A standard V8 would have 2 valves per cylinder, a high performance would have 4, so it be a V8/24V.
The more cylinders the smoother it runs.
The more valves per cylinder the lighter the springs and the higher the RPM.
More valves also mix fuel better for increased fuel mileage and decreased pollution.

well V24 is really a train engine but i think what u mean is a V8 with 24 intake's better than one with only 8 or 16. the answer is u get more even combustion leading to improved performance so yeah a V8 with 24 intake valves is better (the V just stands for the shape the pistons are in not how many there are for example they make a straight 6 with all pistons in a row, or a V6 with 3 pistons on each side, the straight 6 was very common in 1990's american built cars).

Did you mean 8v and 24v? Because if you put the V first you're talking about engines... and the number has nothing to do with the size of the valves, but rather the quantity. In an 8 valve engine (no doubt a 4 cylinder) there are two valves per cylinder, one for exhaust and one for intake. A 24 valve engine (V6) there will be two intake valves and two exhaust valves per cylinder. In a 24 valve V8 engine there will be two intake and one exhaust valve per cylinder.
More valves typically equate to more power, but less gas mileage. The best example I can think of are first generation Saturn engines. They are both in-line 4 engines, and use the same block. The difference is one is a single overhead cam (SOHC) engine and the other is a dual overhead cam engine (DOHC). The SOHC engine has 8 valves, or two per cylinder, and gets 37mpg and 85hp. The DOHC engine has 16 valves, or four per cylinder, and gets 32mpg and 124hp.

More area letting in air-fuel mixture, or letting out exhaust gas is better. So having fewer, larger valves could be better than alot of smaller ones. But usually more is better, 4 per cylinder is about average, amirite?

v24 is bigger. Therefore, it is better. It's going to take a lot of gas though.
