Of course there will be stops on the way, but those are our main stopping points. Is there any rental car service that will allow us to pick up a car in one city and drop it off in another (i.e pick up at LA and drop at Austin, and Austin to NY)? If not, are there any other solutions? We both are from CA natively but live in NY now, so the plan is to go back home for a few weeks via air and road trip it back to the city.
