Going by your info (I'm assuming you've been issued with you P1 after 11 July 2005) you'll definitely will have a restriction/condition on your licence. Check what's on the back of your licence next to conditions. It'll have a description of the condition.

There are restrictions on what vehicles you can drive (they're called prohibited vehicles); v8's, some v6's, some turbo charged & super charged vehicles, vehicles with engine modifications etc. The first link below is for the list of prohibited vehicles, the second link is the link for P1 & P2 licence conditions.

If you think you have a valid reason for needing to drive a prohibited vehicle, you can apply for an exemption (it's all on the second link below).

It depends when you got your licence.

You need to ring the RTA and ask them if you are covered by the new (IMO VERY SMART) P Plate laws.

You shouldnt be driving a V8 for your first car.
