Ive got a Navman and a TomTom Sat-Nav, when you switch either of them on it starts up with a little graphic that shows a computer, a USB icon and what looks like a SD card icon, neither of them will go any further after that, Im pretty sure it's asking me to update the maps on the devices but can you not use them with the old maps?? Ive had a Garmin that you could still use even though the maps were like 3 years out of date, can somebody help me please?? Thanks in advance

Sat navs work OK with old maps. they just don't 'know' when road layouts have changed.

Have you got the correct memory cards in each sat nav?

Did they come with a DVD or CD version of the software, try re-installing it.

I think you can update on the tomtom website. I know we tried to do our ones at work, and had to pay for an update, but not sure what they were updating. However, they then found the memory card that is in the Tomtom was not big enough to put the information on to it! So they got no further with it! I am sure if you do a google search for TomTom, or look in the instruction manual, you should be able to find information about updates! good luck and happy driving

You can still use them with out updates, but the main reason to use them is to help you around. Updating saves you a lot of time to avoiding traffic delays or roads being shut for maintenance.
