In running condition it’s only worth $1200. So a non runner that needs to be rebuilt I wouldn’t pay a dime more than $400.

A 1985 with a blown engine and 8500 miles? Are youbrain dead or just naive? That car's odometer has either made it all the way around and is starting over, has been tampered with and the mileage turned back or the speedo has been replaced. An engine rebuild for 160. 160 what? Surely not $160. I've rebuilt too many engines to believe that. You MIGHT get a valve job for that IF you have an in with the shop doing the work but, that's a mighty big if. The price of old cars is pretty much what one person is willing to pay and another is willing to take. What YOU need is to find someone who is familiar with that series of car, Possibly a collector or club member, to get an appraisal.
