Question:
Hp compared to curb weight?

Ok so this sounds really dumb. But, i know obviously more hp the faster you accelerate, but i also know weight is a big issue. How do they compare to each other? For example my friends car is a 202hp 4100 lbs v6, and mine is a 1098 lbs 115 hp car. Since he has more hp but a lot more weight who would really accelerate faster? kids been trash talking because i dont know that much

Assuming you actually find a street car that weighs 1,098 lbs it would be much faster than your friends because its got a better power to weight ratio.

His car - 4,100 lbs / 202 hp = 20.3 lbs/hp = slow

Your car - 1,098 lbs /115 hp = 9.5 lbs/hp = fast

well actually HP has NOTHING to do with acceleration believe it or not. "Torque" is what judges acceleration. HP has to do with the top speed.

but anyways if you want, find the hp to weight ratio. basically its seeing how many horses you have compared to pounds. more horses you have for each pound, better your hp to weight ratio.

so divide weight by hp
