I want to mod my car and one of the things I wanted to get are these tire valve caps that light up in red when you reach a certain speed and only at night so it looks like you have a circle of light around your tires...but I don't want to get a ticket over something so stupid as a light. So my question is: In Florida, is it illegal to have RED tire valve lights on your tires?

First, in most states, those sorts of lights are for "off-road use only." However, most cops would not be inclined to give you a ticket as much as they would to give you a warning to take them off.

Secondly, in order to find out laws on such things regarding new items and trends, the best method is to call a local police department and ask for the specific law. What might be legal in Northern Florida, might be illegal in Southern, etc.

Florida has different laws but in California and Texas they are illegal to have because they could cause a drive to think that your are law enforcement because the lights will be traveling around at high speeds, lights to stay away from are red and blue.....

Why would blue LED valve stem lights (solid on when vehicle is in motion, not flashing) on a car so visible only from the side, be illegal. How could these be mistaken for a law enforcement vehicle - especially since only visible from the side?
