As long as you know what your doing and dont leave any bare wires touching anything it should be alright . How did your keys get two hours away from your car? Just be carefull and maybey have someone who knows which wires are exactly the right ones to cross . If your car has a computer in it you might want to call a shop and ask them if it will hurt your cars brain to do this.If you accidentally put too much juice to the cars brain you might have some problems with certain things that the computer controls. Can the person who has your keys mail them too you ???

On some older cars it may be OK. For newer cars with steering wheel locks integrated into the ignition key lock, any driving more than a few feet would likely find you lying in a ditch. You could ask a key specialist to come to your car and create a new temporary key. You could also ask somebody to send your key by overnight express mail so you can drive home safely.

Even if you get the vehicle running and if you are lucky enough not to cook something...........Remember that just because the car is running, the steering wheel may not operate. Many cars have the steering wheel lock hooked into the ignition tumbler as an anti theft measure. So you cannot unlock the steering wheel without the key.

Potentially lethal if you messed it up…you could get electrocuted from a very powerful battery. Assuming you do hotwire the car, depending on its age - you’d be fine to drive it.

the question is
Is it smart to stand in a puddle of watter and stick my hand in a toster that is pluged in and is tosting a slice of bread...
When you have the answer to this question you should have had enought time to walk to where the keys are and then walk back to the car ....
