How do i get my heat working?

Ok i have a 1994 ford aerostar and when i turn my heat on it starts to squeel and then after a minute or so it starts to smoke so when i looked under the hood while i had the heat running i saw that my air condition pulley stops turning when my heat is on so i figured i could just get the belt for my van with no aircondition and it would by pass the air condition pulley and my heat would still work. Is this right or does any one know of a simpler way to do it?

If your air conditioning compressor is the culprit. You can just unplug it and that should take care of the problem. Then when you turn on the heat the compressor cannot operate.

You really need to correct the problem. You AC compressor has seesed. you need to replace the AC compressor. now the other option (this will probably cause a Check engine light) is to unplug the power to the AC compressor. this should allow you to get though the winter with out the AC compressor. the AC compressor is only there to help dehumidify the air for better defrosting. so I would just pull the power connection for the AC. but come summer time you will need to replace the AC compressor.

sounds like the a/c compressor is locked up.on some cars the a/c compressor cycles in the winter to keep the seals lubricated .short belting the motor to bybass the compressor will let you drive the vehicle and should let the heater work the same

Sound to me like you need to get a new heater motor and or fan
