Hi there. I'm doing some driver's ed homework, and I am literally confused by some of the questions. It might seem simple but I can't quite grasp some of the right of way questions and instances where lights are involved. If someone could help answer these questions, that would be great.

1. At a 4 way intersection with traffic lights, if your light is a round green, the light on your left is? right? across?

2. At a 4 way intersection with traffic lights, if your light is a round red and a green left, the light on your left is? right? across?

3. At a 4 way intersection with traffic lights, if your light is a round green and a green left, the light on your left is? right? across?

4. At a 4 way intersection with traffic lights, if your light is a blinking red, the light on your left is? right? across?

5. If you approach a yellow blinking light at a 4-way intersection which has a vehicle waiting to your left. What does the waiting car's opposite traffic have for a light?

6. When can you go left on a red?

If emergency vehicles are not "activated" (like no flashing on the top of the lights), do they still get right of way?

1. Visualize people driving. If you've got a green light, you certainly don't want the people on your left and right going too! You'd crash. The people across from you should have a green light so traffic is flowing in both directions.

2. You're getting to turn left only. The light on your left is red, or they'd be hitting you as you turn left. If your light is protected, no one else is going except the people across from you. They're getting to turn left too.

3. Everybody else has a red light or they'd be crashing in to everyone. Only your side of the road is going.

4. You must stop if you're at a blinking red. Everyone is likely blinking red. You must treat this as a 4 way stop. It could be that the people to your right and left have only blinking yellow. It depends on the type of intersection...major or minor.

5. You get to cruise through yellow blinking light as cautiously as possible. The car on your left AND right must wait. So, they have blinking red.

6. You can go left on a red if you are turning onto a one way street. You must check for traffic on your right as they've got a green light and are traveling straight.

Emergency vehicles that are not on duty or carrying a patient somewhere must abide by all traffic laws as you do. They do not get the right of way.

Hoss, if you can't visualize the lights at an intersection and tell what light the people to your left, right and across from you are seeing then you need to keep walking. Otherwise you're going to have one heck of a lot of points from all the resulting wrecks.

Well you can never turn left on red and emergency vehicles never have the right of way without their emergency lights or sirens on.
