I am currently learning to drive and am almost ready for my test but just cannot seem to master the left reverse/reverse around a corner. I'm learning in a fiesta and would appreciate any help and your tips!

ok take your time, dont panic,or you will blow it,

in the fiesta looking over your shoulder, you see the quaterlight window and the rear window, slowly reverse around the corner,as you do this try to see that the kerb will dissapear from your windows, yeah, right as the kerb then enters halfway in the passenger rear window, start to straighnen up,continue reversing a further five metres just to line up with the kerb, good luck to u

taking your time and concentrate is the key. before you move off look at the corner to get a feel for it, then when you are about a foot and a half away from it turn the wheel between 1-2 times (depending on the shape of corner) and keeping the car at 1-3mph. when you are backing up and you think you've turned too sharp or not enough, you can always move forward and try it again anyway on the day of your test. also you get a random 2 of the 4 manouvers on test day so you might be lucky and not have to do it! i didn't get it. good luck

Just take your time and do it slowly. Don't worry about it too much, that will only make you more nervous. I wasn't very good at it when I was learning but now I can whizz round with no difficulty - although to be honest it is not a frequently used manoeuvre - as long as you don't end up too far from the curb (i.e on other side of road!) you should be ok. Good luck!

When I learnt to drive i had a fiesta with a window wiper at the rear, the instructor told me to use a central point on it as you do, when you use a central point on the front windscreen wipers to keep you 3 feet away from the kerb you can do it that way. Plus practice makes perfect!! If you have a car i will come and teach you if you are local. Good luck.

hi, good luck with learning to drive. reversing around corners- the trick is with your side mirror, move it so you can see the kerb, take your seat belt off so you can really turn in your seat and look out the rear window. take your time, and if you see any other cars or bikes then stop, show the tester you are fully aware of everything going on around you too.

this will be hard to explain to you but i will do my best. get another person stood at he back window of your car, with you sat in the drivers seat looking back as if reversing, and, with your car the correct distance from the kerb, get your freind to stick a small peice of tape on your rear window that lines up with kerb edge as you are looking at it through the rear window. then whenever you reverse, keep the tape lined up with kerb and your car will automatically be the correct distance from the kerb the whole way round the corner. its a bit of a cheat but makes reversing so easy.

hope you can understand that, read it a few times and it will become clearer. gd luck

point ur wingmirror down, wen the footpath disappears start to turn. how much u turn is obviously dependent on the sharpness of the corner, but u'll begin 2 get used to this. if u find ur goin 2 wide, start ur turn earlier, if ur too tight straighten the wheel a bit to get some distance. Its important to remember not to park to close to the curb before u begin ur turn. dont stop in the middle of the road obviously, but if u leave a small gap of about 30cms it should help a lot. gd luck

I just passed my test and hated that minouvre so I completely sympathise!

I find it easier if you keep the curb in the window between the side and back window. And do it very slowly so you have plenty of time to correct yourself if you go wrong. Always start with 3/4 of a turn and adjust your steering accordingly.

It depends on the type of corner it is but i'm a learner too and i have my point of turn which is when the curb just starts to bend in my mirror works a treat for me good luck

Practise, I had the very same problem when i was learning to drive. It was so bad that my instructor spent a whole hour lesson just on reversing, believe me, I did it perfectly after that!! Ask your instructor to spend your next lesson doing this, it's a little tedious, but it really does work.

good luck!!!

Not a brilliant idea to do any reversing by 'looking' in your door mirror as a guide! You are far far better looking in the direction you are going, that is, backwards!!!

You can potentially mow down many pedestrians that you didn't see behind you.

practice is about the only tips your going to be able to get on here. I would say to take yourself out into an empty parking lot or similar and set up something like cones to maneuver around. good luck!!!!

Don't forget to put Your mirror back into the correct position after completing the manoeuvre or you'll fail.
