Generally, why do women drive SUV's and men drive cars?

Now, there's no need to get all offended or anything, that's not my intention. I'm genuinely curious about the mindset of the female driver.

I have driven both types so I have the men's side of driving cars and trucks. Cars generally handle better and are more fun, and trucks are great for carrying/pulling heavy loads and off-roading so I see more men driving them. I have even seen men drive things smaller than a Mini Cooper or those ancient VW Beetles, but rarely do I see a woman do the same.

It may just be the area I live in, but almost any SUV driver I see is female. Usually, they're not driving something like a Rav4, 4Runner, or CR-V, they're driving bigass Tahoe's, Suburbans, Armada's, Navigator's, and maybe even Escalade's. I understand the convenience factor of SUV's, but I doubt that's the real reason women buy SUV's. Many teen girls seem to drive SUV's too from my observation. Can anyone shed some light?

Political is partly right, but if it was just need for space they would drive a minivan, they have more room than all but the biggest SUV's, and are far more efficient and less expensive than the giant SUV's. They are willing to trade efficiency for an image of go anywhere toughness, which minivans lack. Not that they will ever actually go off road, few do, but they like the image.

I am a reputable Driver with 40 years of driving fireplace Engines, Ambulances, vehicles, and even hearses. I have an pleasant record. I force out of state and abroad as well. I see the aged as problems throughout the day when they are out essentially the most. Young youngsters at night. I don't criticize ladies drivers given that my driver ed teacher in excessive university used to be a girl! She was a relatively excellent instructor. I suppose it simply depends on individuals instead than companies.

They have an ability and they are confident to drive SUV, and most of the women likes to go anywhere with family, so they like it.
