I just bought an underglow kit for my car. It has many different colors, so I want to know if I can have a semi-bright purple or magenta LED strip turned on while cruising.

First, the colors of red and blue are restricted to emergency vehicles, and can not even be mounted on your vehicle. Other colors can be mounted, but may not be used while your vehicle is in motion as it is a distraction to other drivers. You can use them at car shows, or in the parking lot of your local WalMart unless management there objects. (or any other parking lot).

If the law is anything like the law in the UK then you can't use them while driving. Over here it is not illegal to have them on the car but you cannot use them while moving, only when parked.

It wont hurt to call up your local police department and simply ask.
